For many people in business, jet charter services are something of a norm. On average, business aircraft passengers have taken 15 business trips involving travel by air in the past six months. About 33% of domestic business trips included air travel compared to just 11% of leisure trips. If you’ve ever flown on private jet charters, whether for business or leisure, you know there are a multitude of luxuries that charter jet companies provide with the experience.
If you haven’t, there are many myths that have been propagated about charter jet companies and the services they provide, the majority of which from people who have probably never flown on private charter jets, that should be dispelled. In fact, an Arizona NBC affiliate (KPNX-TV) recently dedicated an entire piece to five of the most common myths when it comes to private jets. Here is a summary of some of the most important ones.
- Costs: First off, charter jet companies are businesses like any other, so, of course, they don’t provide their services for free. There is a belief though that you need to be a millionaire or even billionaire to be capable of enjoying such an expense. This is simply not the case.
Depending on the particular jet you’re chartering, length/distance of the flight, and how many other people you’re flying with can drastically alter how much you can expect to pay. At Windsor Jets, we even offer great deals on empty leg flights! Get a couple of people together and you can find private flights for a few thousand dollars.
- Cancellation and Delays: Many people are under the impression that private charter jets follow the same regulations and guidelines as commercials airliners. While this is true for some things, it is not when it comes to things like bad weather delays. Because of their ability to fly in and out of over 5,000 public use airports in the country (100 times more than airlines), land plans for private jets can be changed at a moment’s notice.
In this same vein, it’s virtually impossible to miss a private jet flight as the scheduled departure time is really up to you.
- Private Jets Aren’t Any Faster: This is false in both the literal and more figurative sense. On a literal level, private jets are typically the fastest planes in the sky. On another level, they’re faster because you don’t have to worry about things like security, boarding, or baggage lines. That’s right, no awkward/intrusive TSA checkpoints, or crowded boarding hallways. Some private airports even let people boarding private jets drive right onto the tarmac for essentially valet-type service.
